Pike County Transit is dedicated to ensuring all clients, including individuals with disabilities, have full and equal access to our transportation services. Our goal is to deliver service in the most integrated and appropriate setting, offering the same response time, reliability and quality as we do for all riders.

Accessible Service Features

  • Wheelchair Accessibility: All vehicles are equipped with wheelchair accessibility and can accommodate mobility aids such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes and service animals.

  • Lift and Tie-Down Support: Our lifts and securement systems are designed to support most standard wheelchair models. Please contact the CATS office to confirm that your wheelchair meets safety requirements.

  • Driver Assistance: All drivers are trained in the use of securement systems, ramps and lifts. They are also available to assist clients with disabilities in boarding and exiting the vehicle as needed.

  • Safety Equipment: Each vehicle is equipped with seat belts, fire extinguishers, two-way communication systems and other essential equipment to ensure a safe ride for all passengers.

  • Accessible Service Information: Service details are available in various accessible formats upon request (including braille, audio or online) to meet the needs of all clients.

  • Service Animal Policy: In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), our transit services would not restrict the use of service animals, including dogs or other animals used to assist individuals with disabilities. Riders should notify dispatch when making a reservation if they will be traveling with a service animal. They also must ensure the animal is under their control at all times.

We are committed to providing accessible, inclusive and reliable transportation for all community members, regardless of ability.
