Our transit drivers work hard every day to bring great customer service to our riders. Every day, Community Action Transit System drivers are responsible for delivering passengers to work, school and appointments and back again. Some of our drivers are on the road before the majority of the county is even awake.
CATS drivers do it all – conduct pre-trip inspections, pick up riders, keep a schedule, give directions, announce stops, all while safely maneuvering a large vehicle through unpredictable traffic, adverse weather conditions and some really tight spaces. It’s not an easy job…but it is easy to show your appreciation for the hard-working men and women who keep Pike County moving. Our drivers don’t have an easy job; they just make it look that way!
During these challenging times, it’s more important than ever that we honor our public servants who are essential to keeping our community moving. On Thursday, March 18, 2021, we’re again celebrating Transit Driver Appreciation Day.
We hope you’ll join the celebration by making an extra effort to say thank you to your driver on that day, or by simply smiling and waving when you board the bus or van. With public health’s guidance, we know that giving thanks can be done most safely by a shout out on social media or calling our dispatchers and answering a few questions about your experience. Please note the details of your bus trip, such as the route and bus number which helps us send that praise to the correct driver.
Send a commendation for Transit Drivers Appreciation Day or on any day you see a driver go above and beyond, or if you just want to thank them for getting you where you need to go. A smile and a “thank you” also can go a long way in improving your driver’s day.
